Kitchen & Garden Room Extension

We had previously designed and installed the bathrooms for this client and the following year they came back to us after they achieved planning permission to turn their conservatory into a large garden room. They also wanted a new kitchen at one end of the new extension so asked us to project manage the entire project.

The garden room was designed with plenty of windows down two sides including bi-folding doors on either side, opening up the space straight onto the garden and allowing for uninterrupted views of their garden and the rolling hills beyond. Skylights above also brought even more light into the space.

We extended the extension to wrap around the side of the house to create a bigger space for the kitchen/dining area and create a larger hallway and entry porch. The kitchen itself was designed in a shaker style with a contemporary edge to reflect the extension. To keep it contemporary we removed the cornice from the design and picked contemporary greys for the cabinets and worktops, including a slate grey to tie in with the window frames.

The entire space was to be used for entertaining as the client enjoyed cooking. To cater for this we therefore recommended two Neff ovens including a combi-oven, which are great for keen cooks. Alongside these we designed open shelving to house all of her recipe books and a countertop bi-fold cabinet to hide away appliances when not in use.

Double height contemporary kitchen

Space planning was key in this vast room however we didn’t want to fill the entire room with kitchen cabinetry so left plenty of space towards the window for a dining and seating area. The space wasn’t entirely square and had lots of angles so to accentuate this we opted for a contemporary handless Rotpunkt kitchen and designed a staggered island that reflected the shape of the room.

There were lots of contrasting textures throughout the space, particularly the contemporary glass window paired with rustic wooden beams. We reflected this in the choice of materials we used such as the contemporary dark polished Silestone worktops with a juxtaposing raised wooden breakfast bar.

The main aspect of the brief was to include lots of storage so we ensured this was the case. Behind stools on the island we included full depth cupboards and added four larder cupboards throughout the space. We also included a tambour unit, designed to hide away worktop appliances to keep the streamlined, clean look of the kitchen. To complete the space we specified Villeroy & Boch Franklin tiles in Griege with their speckled, veined appearance in similar grey and brown tones, tying everything together.

Scandinavian Industrial Kitchen

The client had a very clear vision for her new kitchen; a mix of modern industrial and Scandinavian simplicity so opted for the solid wood, Neptune Suffolk, with its paired back look and clean lines.

Being a galley style kitchen, at first the client wanted to reconfigure the room to make it wider but eventually we came up with a layout that created space through framing the orangery at the end of the kitchen. The light from the orangery filtered perfectly through the narrow kitchen and we picked colours and textures that connected the two spaces together to make them feel like one flowing room. Charcoal paint on the cabinetry alongside antique bronze knobs and hinges matched the dark grey paintwork on the window and door framed in the orangery. This was then continued into their boot room and utility too.

With space being the main design consideration, storage was key in this kitchen. We added two larders, cupboards above the window and had some bespoke drawers designed to maximise every inch of space. The antique mirrored splashback behind the stove also helped to make the room feel larger.

Modern Industrial Kitchen

Originally living in South Africa, our clients were used to clean contemporary living and wanted the same look and feel for their kitchen. With a new side return extension, the space was already open plan however we utilised the change in levels from the extension to naturally separate the space into cooking and dining zones.

The client wanted flat handleless units to go with the contemporary look so opted for Rotpunkt cabinets in Kashmir with a weathered oak-effect finish on the island. The design also included built in double Neff ovens, a concealed extractor fan and a pull down tambour unit so that the breakfast area with kettle and toaster could be hidden away when not in use and the kitchen could remain sleek and seamless yet highly functional.

The clients opted to leave the external brick wall exposed which softens the clean lines of the kitchen and provides contrast to the cool industrial style.

Open-plan Kitchen Extension

Due to fire damage, this client came to us to design them a new kitchen in their existing extension. The room was quite narrow so in order to make the space feel open and spacious we utilised the room beyond to create a two-tiered open-plan kitchen diner with a casual bench seating area.

A pale colour palette complements this light filled space and once the bi-folding door is opened the entire kitchen feels as if it extends into the garden and beyond.

Country Cottage Kitchen

This traditional cottage came with lots of character features that the owners were keen to integrate into their kitchen design. We intricately crafted the units around the characterful beams which were then accentuated with a subtle colour palette. The pale tones also assisted in making the room feel larger, disguising the very low ceiling height. A pale blue AGA added to the quintessential nature of this family room, resulting in a marriage of comfort and elegance whilst remaining true to the buildings heritage.

Cool Contemporary Kitchen

With a young family, having a space where everyone could spend time together was the most important aspect for this client. This open plan design required careful space planning to achieve somewhere that was both practical and social for all the family but with an added element of beautiful design.

We designed the central island with all of these factors in mind. Plenty of storage and a prep sink for practicality but also a wine fridge and a bespoke high seating area crafted from an extra piece of contrasting Silestone to inject an added element of design.

Texture was key with sleek matt kashmir base units blended with grey oak wall units to create a complementary mix of surfaces, whilst the polished Silestone worktop reflects light around the space.

Contemporary Scandinavian Chic Kitchen

This kitchen redesign was for a client who had recently downsized into this particular house, therefore storage was key for fitting in everything from their previous kitchen. They wanted a contemporary look to fit with the style of the house so we opted for a predominantly white design. This meant that the tall cabinets blended into the back walls making the space appear light and spacious however to ensure the design wasn’t too clinical we injected some warmth with some light wood cabinets. The kitchen overlooked the dining/living room so the cooking area was designed specifically so that the client could socialise while cooking.

The combination of simple clean lines, the use of organic materials and a focus on making the most of natural light are the elements that define this Scandinavian Modern design style.
